I couldn’t be more excited to share the completion of this project, it’s been in the works for quite some time! It’s filled with a classic black and white color pallet with bright whites, modern furniture, black accents, and a branching chandelier that really makes an statement.
Keep scrolling to see how it was all pulled together, shop the look, and a few design tips that were used in the space. To see the design board and what inspired this design refer to How To Create A Room Design Concept!

Design Tip No. 1:
Create an impact wall at the entry
The wall with the round mirror and bench is the first thing you see when you enter the front door so why not go bold, so I painted a black wall(paint is Sherwin-Williams called Black Magic 6991)! I balanced out the black wall with white baseboards, white ceiling, and white/neutral furniture and accessories. Keeping everything else a light color, tones-down the dark wall without the room feeling too dark. Designer rule of thumb is to not place dark items in front of a dark wall or a room painted in a dark color unless you want it to feel cave-like.

Design Tip No. 2:
Balancing black and white
I wanted the space to feel light and airy but with contrasting black and white accents but how much contrast do you add? Balance is key! I kept all the patterns simple, such as the pattern in the rug and drapes are simple black lines. The rest of the space and accents are solid colors. The wood floor also balances out the room and grounds all the black and white.

Design Tip No. 3:
Be sure to add wood accents
The wood tones are used to break up all the black and white. This allows your eye to rest so the space isn’t too busy. All spaces need this if you want it to feel warm and inviting. If no wood is used in a space it usually is intended to make the space feel ultra modern.
