I just finished remodeling a house in Rockaway Beach, OR(pictures coming soon!), as well as updating our house in Vancouver, WA but I was ready for the next chapter…
…to buy a multi-generational home! This means there’s a mother-in-law/father-in-law suite that is on one level for handicap accessibility. My parents are in bad health and needed us (my husband Ben and two kids, Max who’s 2 and Gwen who’s 11), to come together to assist them. My dad lost both kidneys to cancer and is on dialysis and in a wheelchair, and my mom who had a few mild strokes.
After A LOT of looking, we finally found one!

The house was built in 69′ and is a bit dated but the property and views are amazing! I knew I had my work cut out for me painting and remodeling…but this is what I do! I could hardly wait to get my hands on it!
We started remodeling my parent’s area first(the first floor), by updating all the finishes and added a new kitchenette in 4 days!! Yes, I said 4 days! Thankfully we had help from my brother and sister-in-law but it was exhausting!! I’ll display these photos in a later post!!

Once my parents area was done we moved ALL the furniture in and then started on the second story(my little family’s area). This was pretty difficult working around the furniture but it all somehow worked out!
On the second story, all the walls were an army green and which made the interior much dark. I knew everything needed to be lightened as well as the doors and trim. The window trim, baseboards, and doors were a dark wood stain.
We started by using a sprayer on all the doors and trim with a semi-gloss white. The sprayer really sped up the process!

I hope you feel inspired to update your space, to make it a more relaxing and enjoyable space for you and your family!!
